  • David Monaghan won a Best Documentary award from BAFTA, the British Academy of Film & Television Arts in 1999 for Dispatches: Inside the Animal Liberation Front, under the category of News & Current Affairs Journalism.
Royal Television Society
  • David Monaghan won the RTS Award for Best Current Affairs Documentary in 1999 for Dispatches: Inside the Animal Liberation Front.
Worldfest
  • David Monaghan won the Platinum Award for Science at the Worldfest-Houston Film and Television Festival in 2003 for Trees on Mars.
Walkley
  • David Monaghan was nominated for the Walkley Award in Journalism for a series on the drug trade in 1986.
Travers
  • The Killing Sett was produced by David Monaghan for Laurel Productions in 1994. Undercover reporter Graham Hall's expose on the illegal sport of badger baiting was awarded the Bill Travers Memorial Award, as well as a broadcast prize from the Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
